This takes place in Seoul, Korea. Refer to our MHA Universe in Korea.
A soft winter haze blankets Seoul, but beneath the holiday lights, something decidedly unmodern is happening. High-tech gifts—tablets, smart consoles, wireless earbuds, even AI companion plushes—are mysteriously turning into their old-fashioned equivalents overnight. Tablets become hardcover books. Wireless earbuds become old record player from decades ago. A drone becomes a paper-and-wood model glider.
The city is buzzing, confused, and more than a little creeped out.
> Interview at Hongdae Station
Reporter: “Sir, you reported a gift change in your home. Can you walk us through it?”
Father in a snow-dusted coat: “I bought my daughter a tablet for Christmas—latest model. Plugged it in, wrapped it, went to sleep. This morning?”
(He lifts a thick, dusty hardcover.)
Father: “This. A 1980s encyclopedia volume. Who even **has** these anymore?”
Reporter: “Any sign it was swapped by hand?”
Father: “No way. It looks like it’s been on a library shelf for years.”
> Interview at Myeongdong Shopping Street
Reporter: “You mentioned your shopping bag changed on your way home?”
College student holding tangled earphones: “Yeah… I bought wireless earbuds, the fancy noise-canceling ones. But when I checked my bag at home, I found this.”
(She holds up and old record player from the 80s)
Reporter: “And you’re sure no one touched your bag?”
Student: “Positive. Unless someone can teleport, travel through time, and hates Bluetooth.”
Across the city, panic and fascination spread in equal measure. The police, overwhelmed with identical reports, have quietly marked the phenomenon as possible villain activity, though there’s no proof yet—no Quirk signatures, no surveillance anomalies, no clear pattern beyond modern tech reverting to old-time objects.
Citizens speculate wildly: time quirks, ghosts nostalgic for the past, mass hallucinations, or perhaps some strange natural phenomenon. For now, no one knows. And every night, more items continue to… downgrade.

Attention heroes, vigilantes and citizens!
Seoul remains in crisis. The police lines are jammed, tech companies are panicking, and families are staring at wooden toys where their brand-new consoles used to be. For weeks, we’ve chased shadows, but thanks to a witness who caught an intruder coming down the chimney, we finally have a name.
Meet the man behind the Christmas villainy!
Real Name: Lee-Wook, Mr. L.
Villain Alias: Citizens have been calling him the "Downgrader", but no official name claimed.
Quirk: "Retro-Grade" – The ability to instantly transmute complex modern technology into its nearest non-electric, old-fashioned equivalent (e.g., a smartphone becomes a notepad; a drone becomes a kite).
The rumor mill (backstory):
While nothing is confirmed, investigative reports and rumors paint a tragic picture:
"They say Lee-Wook (Mr. L) wasn't always like this. He grew up deep in the countryside, part of a massive, tight-knit family that ran a farm. No screens, just hard work and board games by the fire. Rumor has it that a family medical emergency forced them to move to Seoul when he was a teen. The culture shock broke them.
Witnesses say Lee-Wook watched technology tear his once-close family apart—screens replaced conversation, and eventually, everyone drifted away. He’s lived alone for 20 years, watching the world become slaves to their devices. He thinks he’s saving us. He thinks by destroying the tech, he’s forcing us to look at one another again."
Start date:
Dec 16th to Dec 30th.
